How long do you believe you have had Lyme/tick-borne illness?
How long did it take you to get a diagnosis?
Did you see multiple doctors before you were diagnosed with Lyme? If so, what types?
2 general practitioners, 3 hospital doctors.
Were you diagnosed with anything else before Lyme? If so, what?
Erythemanodosum (a reaction to the Lyme).
Anything else you would like to share about trying to find a diagnosis:
I was very, very lucky that one of the general practitioners I saw right away said, “I'm testing you for Lyme.” I also had a very ignorant doctor at the hospital (head doctor at the hospital) telling me it isn't Lyme as that isn't in the area I live in!!
How long have you been treating Lyme for?
Do you have any coinfections? If so, which ones?
No idea yet, but I have the Erythemanodosum which is so painful.
What types of treatments have you tried?
I'm in antibiotics, steroids, and vitamin D.
List up to 5 of your biggest (past or current) symptoms:
- Exhaustion…I can't believe how awful that makes me feel—when I can't even make the bed without needing a rest, or walk for a few minutes without feeling awful after.
- The pains in my wrists and neck and knees, etc…
- Mentally and emotionally drained, scared about the future
- Brain fog: getting words mixed up
What is the biggest way that Lyme has affected your life?
I was an active person, then overnight that has been taken away from me.
What do you wish people knew about Lyme Disease?
That it could be you or your family…It was a simple walk in a woods that has changed my life.
ALL general practitioners and hospital doctors should be aware of Lyme.
Any advice for someone newly diagnosed with Lyme?
I am newly diagnosed so all I can say is that I understand how scared you are right now.
Fun fact time! What is your favorite thing to do when you’re not attending to your Lyme?
Write and art.
