How long do you believe he has had Lyme/tick-borne illness?
Maybe since birth. But at least for 2 years.
How long did it take to get a diagnosis?
6 days after we went the first time. They did a lumbar puncture - taking spinal cord fluid.
Diagnosis: Neuroborreliosis meningitis - infection Borrelia burgdorferi.
Did you see multiple doctors before he was diagnosed with Lyme? If so, what types?
We met with 2 doctors.
How long has he been treating Lyme for?
They treated our son for 10 days on intravenous antibiotics.
Does he have any coinfections? If so, which ones?
We believe our son has Bartonella as well. But no test was done.
List up to 5 of his biggest (past or current) symptoms:
Heart rupture, brain injury, numbness, joint pain (knee), and eating disorder.
What is the biggest way that Lyme has affected his life?
He cannot be active in the same way. Schooling has been adversely affected. Insomnia.
What do you wish people knew about Lyme Disease?
That chronic Lyme/tick-borne diseases do exist. My son is not mentally ill.
Any advice for someone newly diagnosed with Lyme?
Be your own guardian angel.
Fun fact time! What is his favorite thing to do when he’s not attending to Lyme?
Playing with his friend and go swimming.
