Anything else you would like to share about trying to find a diagnosis?

I figured out that I had Lyme when my mom was infected acutely with it and was experiencing the exact same symptoms I’d been experiencing for years. I requested a Lyme test and it was positive.

What is the biggest way that Lyme has affected your life?

I had to take a lot of time off from school because of my symptoms, and I still have a hard time functioning in my day-to-day life. I need medicine just to stay awake during the day and am constantly exhausted. I have to take seven daily medications to manage symptoms and the other diseases/conditions Lyme has caused me to have. I feel like I’m 70 years old, and I constantly wonder if I will ever feel better.

What is one thing you wish people knew about Lyme Disease?

I wish people could understand the degree to which I suffer on a daily basis because of Lyme, and how much it has changed my life. I may not always look like I’m sick, but that doesn’t mean that I’m not sick.

Any advice for someone newly diagnosed with Lyme?

It’s worth it to take the time you need for yourself in order to get better. And don’t give up!

Fun fact time! What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?
